FAQ by Products

Do I need to plan for the diet?

Many of our clients will elect to do a cleanse before beginning the program, yet it is not necessary. The most important preparation is mental.

Will I lose muscle?

Weight loss using HCG comes directly from adipose tissue or fat and not from lean muscle.

Will I be hungry on 500 calories a day?

Mild hunger is not uncommon. However, because of the use of appetite suppressants, many of our clients do not experience hunger.

Is the HCG diet safe?

When done under the care of a licensed physician, the HCG plan is a safe method to lose weight. A 500-calorie diet without HCG is unsafe because of the calorie restriction. There are some contraindications for the use of appetite suppressants, and our licensed physician will discuss those with you.

Can I exercise?

Exercise causes your weight loss to slow down. You will lose the most weight if you are sedentary. Exercise builds muscle mass, which weighs more than fat, so you still burn fat, but you stay at the same weight. Additionally, muscles hold water around it while it “heals” from any type of exercise, whether it be walking or working out/cardio. You should not exert yourself while on the VLCD.

Can I still use lotion, shampoo, etc.?

Yes, many people have continued using their regular products (shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, soap) for everyday use with the exception of lotion. Many lotions have oils in them, so be sure to check the ingredients. Mineral oil would be best as a skin moisturizer because it is not absorbed by the skin.

Can I get a massage?

No. Many massage lotions contain oil, which is a carbohydrate source.

How does Botox® / Dysport® work?

It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form.

When will I see results from a Botox® / Dysport® treatment?

Within days, you may see a marked improvement in these stubborn lines. Lines may continue to improve for up to a month, and results can last for up to 4 months. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women reported a significant improvement in their appearance after treatment.

How long does Botox® / Dysport® last?

Results from treatment with BOTOX® / Dysport® can last for up to 4 months. If you discontinue treatment, the frown lines between your brows gradually will look like they did before treatment. For your convenience, Vortex Wellness & Aesthetics offers annual packages that will keep you looking refreshed and relaxed year-round.

Is treatment with Botox® / Dysport® painful?

The highly trained physicians of Vortex Wellness & Aesthetics utilize a special ‘painless injection’ technique will ensure that any minor discomfort you feel will be minimal and brief. Before injecting, you may choose to numb the area with a cold pack. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. You will be in and out of the office without downtime following BOTOX® / Dysport® treatment.

Who should not use Botox® / Dysport®?

BOTOX® / Dysport® should not be used in the presence of infection at the proposed injection site(s) and in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation. Patients with neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.

Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?

Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® / Dysport® will not change your facial appearance or make you look as if you “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

What will happen to the frown lines between my brows if I choose not to continue treatments?

If you do not continue treatments, your lines will gradually look like they did before treatment.

Is BOTOX® / Dysport® affordable?

Absolutely! At Vortex Wellness & Aesthetics, we’re proud to offer the authentic BOTOX® / Dysport® at a price much lower than most providers in the L.A. area. On a per-day basis, your BOTOX® / Dysport® treatment will cost less than your other appearance-related investments, such as hair coloring and cuts, teeth whitening, and chemical peels. In fact, the daily cost of a BOTOX® / Dysport® treatment is similar to the cost of your morning coffee!

How do dermal fillers work?

All products used at Vortex Wellness & Aesthetics are based on a hyaluronic acid gel that is injected into the skin in order to lift up wrinkles or add volume to the lips.

What kind of wrinkles can be treated?

Common areas are the nasolabial folds (from the wing of the nose to the angle of the mouth) and the wrinkles around the lips and the eyes. Volumizing of the cheeks is also a common treatment.

What results can be obtained from lip treatment?

The vermilion border can be accentuated and the lip can be given more volume. Lips are an area of specialty at Vortex Wellness & Aesthetics.

What is the treatment like?

In less than an hour, you can say goodbye to unwanted lines and wrinkles like the smile lines that appear between your nose and mouth, or the marionette lines that turn down the corners of your mouth. The treatment is an easy and quick process. Since no pre-test is required, the treatment can be carried out immediately and takes between 15 and 30 minutes. The result is instant.

Is dermal filler treatment painful?

The injections may prick a little, but normally no anesthesia is needed for the treatment of wrinkles. At Vortex Wellness & Aesthetics, we will offer you a numbing cream prior to treatment to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

How long does the effect of dermal fillers last?

Since dermal fillers are made of a substance very similar to your own skin, the same ongoing process (such as aging) that changes the structure of your skin will also alter the implant. Eventually, the implant disappears from the body completely. How long the effect of the treatment lasts varies from person to person. It depends on many factors, such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle, and age, as well as on the degree of perfection demanded by the individual. Most patients choose to have touch-up treatments done within 6-12 months of the original treatment. For lip augmentation, new treatment is normally needed after about 4-8 months. If you choose not to do touch-up treatments, the correction will gradually disappear until your skin looks just as it did before the treatment.

What are the possible side effects of Latisse®?

The most common side effects after using LATISSE® solution are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness. This was reported in approximately 4% of patients. LATISSE® solution may cause other less common side effects which typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE® is applied, or in the eyes. These include skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids.

What should I do if I get Latisse® in my eye?

LATISSE® solution is an ophthalmic drug product. If any gets into the eye, it is not expected to cause harm. The eye should not be rinsed.

What are the ingredients in Latisse®?

Active ingredient: bimatoprost Inactive ingredients: benzalkonium chloride; sodium chloride; sodium phosphate, dibasic; citric acid; and purified water. Sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric acid may be added to adjust pH. The pH during its shelf life ranges from 6.8 — 7.8.

What is skin-hyperpigmentation?

This is a common, usually harmless condition in which areas of skin become darker than the surrounding skin color. This occurs when there is an increase in the melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, in the skin. Skin hyperpigmentation is a possible side effect of LATISSE®, but may be reversible after discontinuation of the product.

What is elevated intraocular pressure (IOP)?

This is a condition where the pressure inside the eye is higher than normal. LATISSE® may decrease IOP. So talk to your healthcare professional if you are using IOP-lowering medications. Concurrent administration of LATISSE® and certain IOP-lowering medications in ocular hypertensive patients should be closely monitored for changes in intraocular pressure.

What are the other possible side-effects of Latisse®?

A clinical trial of LATISSE® was conducted on patients who applied the product to the base of their upper lashes only. Applied nightly, the transfer of LATISSE® solution from the upper to lower eyelid may occur naturally because the eyelids are closed and the eyelashes touch each other. Over application may increase the chance of experiencing side effects. To ensure safety and maximize effectiveness, please follow the directions provided.

What should I do if I experience eye itching?

Eye itching may occur immediately after use, but should usually last only for a short period of time (one to two weeks during initial use). Eye itching alone is not an allergic reaction and doesn’t mean that your eyes are being harmed. Consult your healthcare professional if the itching persists or you notice other symptoms as well.
